The Ladies of IT: MoWINs program breaks down barriers for women

If the pilot group of IT students is any indication, we can expect great things from MCC’s MoHealthWINs students. This past fall, dozens of displaced workers applied for the program. Nineteen got into Healthcare IT Technician certificate course, offered under the IT Career Pathway.Fourteen of them are women, all over 40 years of age. MCCA Award Winner Makes $2 Million Donation to Three Rivers College

Scott Matthews, winner of the Missouri Community College Association’s (MCCA) 2011 “Award of Distinction,” has continued his outstanding contributions to community college education in Missouri this month, through a donation to Three Rivers College of land worth approximately $2.1 million. The donation was accepted by the college’s Board of Trustees at its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27. MoHealthWINs program lands jobs for Southeast Missouri residents

Last October, Linda Little was unemployed, looking in the newspaper for work that could be done by a hearing impaired person. Metropolitan Community College workforce video receives national honor

Kansas City, Mo. -- Metropolitan Community College has been awarded a Paragon Award by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) for a short animated film about the regional workforce for the digital storytelling industry. The film, entitled Alice’s Adventure in Workforce Development, was created by the MCC Institute for Workforce Innovation (IWI), in conjunction with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), for a joint presentation at Hallmark's Digital Storytelling Forum last summer. Mineral Area College Ranked No. 1 in State for Campus Safety

PARK HILLS – At a time when school crimes regularly make national news, Mineral Area College officials are happy that Southeast Missouri’s first community college is rather old-fashioned in one regard: Campus safety. Gainesville, FL.— The Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) issued a call for Bellwether Award nominations in the fall of 2012, and 30 finalist colleges in three categories were competitively chosen from the applicants. Three Rivers College Develops Transitional Programs to Boost Student Skills

Three Rivers College is transitioning the way it serves students who need to strengthen the skills necessary to be successful in college-level courses. “Three Rivers has been using a $2 million Strengthening Institutions grant to redesign the traditional classroom model of developmental classes. Three Rivers College Named Among Fastest Growing In Nation

Three Rivers College was declared one of the fastest growing community colleges in America this week by Community College Week, the nation’s leading periodical for community, technical, and junior colleges. The periodical ranked Three Rivers as the 7th fastest growing institution among colleges with 2,500-4,999 students during the period from Fall 2010 to Fall 2011.
